"Tuatapere" the Town, is not only the Sausage Capital of New Zealand, it is close to beaches with plentiful supplies of Paua, Kina, Toheroas, Greenlip Mussel, Yellow Belly Flounder, with deer and pig in the bush covered hills close to town  The Waiau Hotel can accommodate 54 people in 25 rooms, 6 with ensuites  and 3 Dining areas, Hump ridge Cafe Bar, Bistro Bar and Main Dining Room for your pleasure
World Ewe Shearing records have been closely associated with Tuatapere and the Waiau Hotel for many years
There are at least 9 World Shearing Record Holders live in  this area
Brunel Peaks Station, up the Blackmount Valley is where many records have been set.
Neil St George 605, David Fagan 656 & 702, and Edsel Forde 664, did their 9 hour ewe records there  		Then down the road a few kilometers at 

Wairaki Station, is where Dion Morrell 716,
Darin Forde 688 & 720 and Wayne Ingram 647 did their 9 hour ewe record contribution as well as Darin Forde's 6 stand team added 4188 lambs to the record books.

The Waiau Hotel have not only sponsored and supported eight successful World Ewe records, they have been actively involved in the promotion, the fundraising, the functions prior, accommodation before and the after functions.
Without their help, these 8 World records they may not have all been successful.
